Vectavir works by stopping the virus to multiply. Starting the treatment as soon as possible after the early symptoms is the most efficient way to control the infection. The white colour of the Vectavir cream is a good way to cover the cold sores during the whole outbreak. If you continue to use Vectavir cream during the outbreak your blisters will heal faster.

Use the cream from debut of symptoms and every second hour for the following 4 days.

Penciclovir 1%

You should always talk to a doctor or pharmacist before using Vectavir. Do not use Vectavir if hypersensitive to penciclovir or any of the other ingredients. Vectavir should only be used on cold sores on the lip and around the mouth. Do not use for application inside the mouth or nose or on genital areas.

If you have a condition or are receiving treatment which weakens your immune system, always consult a doctor before using Vectavir. The same goes if you are pregnant, planning to have a baby or breast-feeding – talk to a doctor before applying Vectavir.

Vectavir contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause local skin reactions. It also contains propylene glycol which may cause skin irritation.

The likelihood of transmission is heightened during days 1-4 of symptoms. Avoid kissing others and sharing bottles, cups during this time
to prevent spread.
Some individuals may find that UV rays can trigger cold sores → using SPF products (at least SPF30) is beneficial.
