1. What is Waxsol used for?
Waxsol® is used to soften and help remove built-up or hardened ear wax that may cause discomfort, temporary hearing loss, or a blocked sensation in the ear. It is ideal for short-term use at home before considering more invasive treatments like syringing.
2. How do I use it correctly?
Use at night, just before bed.
Tilt your head and gently fill the ear canal with the drops.
Plug the ear with a small piece of moistened cotton wool.
Leave overnight and repeat once more the next night if needed.
Do not use for more than 2 consecutive nights.
3. When should I not use Waxsol?
If you have a perforated eardrum, or suspect one.
If you have ear pain, infection, inflammation, or itching.
If you are allergic to docusate sodium or any ingredients listed.
If you have eczema or dermatitis in or around the ear.
Children under 12 years should only use it under medical advice.
4. What are the possible side effects?
Some people may experience mild irritation, itching, or a rash. If you notice dizziness, discomfort, or worsening symptoms, stop use immediately and speak to a doctor or pharmacist.
5. How should I store it?
Store below 25°C.
Discard 4 weeks after opening.
Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
6. Extra Tips:
Never insert cotton buds or other objects into the ear — they can push wax further in or cause damage.
Use a clean, moistened cotton wool ball to keep the drops in place overnight.
If symptoms persist after 2 nights, consult a pharmacist or GP. Ear syringing or micro-suction may be needed.
